To Our Valued Customers,
As part of our ongoing commitment to our employees’ safety and the environment, we have made the decision to begin the elimination process of pouring our red bronze alloy, C83600.
This alloy has a 5% lead content which poses exposure risk to our employees, requiring regular blood testing for lead levels, additional PPE, and mandatory showers after shifts.
From a production standpoint, the pouring of this alloy causes lead build up in our molding sand. Disposal of spent sand has become very expensive, as it is now classified as hazardous material.
The proposed replacement for C83600 is Bismuth, C89833. This alloy is similar in chemical composition, however, contains no lead – making it the safer alternative for both our employees and our business. Chemical composition for both alloys can be found within this letter.

We understand that this change may cause concern for the parts that you purchase from us. Rest assured, we are doing all that we can to minimize impacts on production, cost, and quality. We appreciate your understanding and willingness to participate in this initiative.
